A Vision Unleashed

Built over the course of 17 years, this custom 1978 GMC Caballero is a remarkable testament to craftsmanship, vision, and dedication. What started as a dream in 1993 has evolved into a one-of-a-kind creation that embodies the spirit of passion-driven car culture. With its aggressive stance and custom features, it’s clear that every detail was carefully crafted.

The Heart: 509 BBC Power

Under the hood, the car carries a 13:1 compression 509 BBC, built with a Callies crank, rods, and J&E forged pistons. A Velodyne roller cam with a .700 lift ensures the engine has the muscle to match its menacing look. Custom CNC’d Edelbrock Victor heads and a BLP-modified Holley 1050 carb round out the powertrain, while a highly modified TH400 transmission with an ATI 4500 stall converter keeps it on point.

Custom Chassis and Suspension

At the core of this build is the custom tube frame, featuring an Alston backhalf 4-link and a Strange 9” rear axle. With 35-spline axles and a 4.56 Detroit Locker, the power is put to the pavement effortlessly. The 1″ drop springs, rear 4 link, and channeled body provides the 3″ total drop that gives the Caballero its perfect stance. The rear tires, Hoosier QTP 31×18.5×15, sit on Centerline Convo Pros, the wheels purchased early on in the build and selected specifically for their perfect fit.

Body: Custom from Top to Bottom

From the custom smoothed marker lights to the frenched taillights, this build has undergone numerous modifications. The sleek lines are enhanced with a custom color mix of PPG blues, accented with blue pearl, and finished off with subtle flame graphics. The body was channeled to sit lower, and the interior was gutted to make way for a custom aluminum dash housing, Kirkey seats, and AutoMeter Pro Comp gauges. The 10-point roll cage, designed to blend in seamlessly with the car’s profile, is nearly invisible from the outside.

Details That Make It Stand Out

  • Paint: Custom blend of PPG blue with blue pearl and flames
  • Body Mods: Smoothed marker lights, and frenched taillights
  • Interior: Custom aluminum dash, Kirkey seats, and matching upholstery
  • Wheels: Centerline Convo Pros with 15×6 fronts and 15×15 rears
  • Tires: Hoosier QTP 31×18.5×15 for maximum grip
  • Exhaust Note: Just raw power, nothing more
